New York State High School Clay Target League has a record number of teams and participants this spring.
A total of 1,693 student athletes on 103 high school teams across the state are participating on teams for trap, skeet, 5-stand and sporting clays. The state league is part of the USA Clay Target League, a Minnesota-based group that offers high school and college programs in 34 states. New York’s previous record for number of teams participating was 88.
Central New York high schools fielding teams this spring include Skaneateles, Moravia, Liverpool, Chittenango, Paul V. Moore Central School, Sandy Creek Central School, McGraw High School, Cortland Christian Academy, East Palmyra Central School, Altmar-Parish-Williamson, Waterloo, Romulus and Palmyra-Macedon.
