Canada s Wonderland, the country s largest amusement park, will serve as a COVID-19 vaccination site in York Region, north of Toronto, as local public health officials prepare for mass immunization campaigns scheduled to begin this spring. Plans are in place to convert large parking lots at the park into a drive-thru vaccination site that will accommodate eight lanes of traffic while using its existing entry wickets.

York Region Public Health confirm over 50 COVID-19 cases linked to FedEx facility in Vaughan by Lucas Casaletto Last Updated Feb 11, 2021 at 12:59 pm EDT York Region Public Health has issued a public notice confirming an outbreak at a FedEx facility in Vaughan resulted in over 50 cases of COVID-19. The public health unit says 54 cases have been linked to a FedEx Ground located at 45 Di Poce Way. “A workplace outbreak was declared after information was received indicating approximately 15 workers were suspected cases of COVID-19. Public Health staff have been in regular communication with the company,” said York Region Public Health. Of the 54 cases, 29 people are from Peel Region, 13 cases are from Toronto, 10 cases are from York Region, with 2 cases confirmed out of Wellington-Dufferin Guelph.

Ontario long-term care home issued order of compliance, cites inadequate senior leadership

  TORONTO An Ontario long-term care home that has been in a COVID-19 outbreak since mid-November has received an order of compliance from York Region’s medical officer of health due in part to what he describes as “inadequate senior leadership” at the institution and insufficient knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPAC) processes. The order was issued by Dr. Karim Kurji, on New Year’s Eve and requires Villa Leonardo Gambin, a long-term care home in Vaughan, Ont. operated by Sienna Senior Living, to “comply with all direction related to the COVID-19 outbreak.” An outbreak was declared at Villa Leonardo Gambin on Nov. 20. According to data available Saturday, there are 35 confirmed cases among residents and 14 among staff. Four residents have died since the outbreak was declared.
