An application by Schottenstein Realty Company for the purpose of redeveloping an existing motel (the George Washington Inn and Conference Center) into a 125-unit rental apartment building has been approved by the York County Planning Commission.
According to a York County Planning Commission Staff Report, Schottenstein has a contract to purchase the property and intends to redevelop it for non-transient residential occupancy.
Currently the property is a 250-room motel and conference center.
The property is designated Economic Opportunity in the Comprehensive Plan, intended to guide a mix of office, light industrial, commercial, and tourist related uses to certain areas of the county that have or are planned to have the access and infrastructure necessary to support both capital and labor intensive uses.
