York County s economy is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, with 32 new businesses arriving to the downtown York City area and 13 older businesses expanding during 2020-21.
And while 10 businesses also closed during that same time period, York County Economic Alliance President and CEO Kevin Schreiber said the new growth is providing a renewed sense of optimism. If you look at how far we ve come in 18 months, it s pretty remarkable, he said. We re still very much in an economic crisis and clawing our way out of it, but I think this is a reason to pause and see that there are good things ahead and that businesses are finding opportunity in crisis.
As York County industries return to normal, labor shortages ramp up competition

As York County companies begin to return to a sense of normalcy, they are once again faced with prepandemic challenges only now worsened by COVID-19.
Employers across all industries are struggling to hire workers, and some competing industry leaders, like Rutter s and Sheetz, have responded with wage increases. It s fair to say that no industry is immune to the hyper competition for talent right now, said York County Economic Alliance President and CEO Kevin Schreiber. It s not surprising to see this hyper competition ramp up again.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. Governor Tom Wolf announced Thursday that a new contract pharmaceutical manufacturing facility will open in York County, bringing an estimated 100 new jobs to the region.
The facility, which will be located in Conewago Township, will be opened by 250 Cross Farm Lane, LLC, a subsidiary of PSC Biotech Corporation, Wolf said.

Governor Tom Wolf announced today that 250 Cross Farm Lane, LLC (CFL), a subsidiary of PSC Biotech Corporation, will open a new contract pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in York County. CFL will transfer equipment, staff, and customers from its Wisconsin site to CFL in Conewago Township, investing over $22 million and bringing 100 new jobs to the region. CFL intends to change its name to BioTechnique.
