England goalkeeper Nick Pope buys goalposts from York City | East Anglian Daily Times

Nick Pope has bought a set of goalposts from former club York City - Credit: Archant England goalkeeper Nick Pope - who was once on the books of Ipswich Town - has bought a unique piece of memorabilia from one of his former clubs - without knowing how he s going to get it home.  The Burnley keeper, 28, who previously attended West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds, won a set of goalposts from York City s old Bootham Crescent home in a blind auction. Pope, who was with Ipswich up until the age of 16, enjoyed a spell with York City in 2013-14, playing 24 games while on loan from Charlton Athletic.

John Kear’s side start their 2021 league campaign against Sheffield Eagles on Sunday, April 4 at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium. The Bulls shut out Sheffield 28-0 at Dewsbury in March last year – their final Championship game before the game went into lockdown and the competition was scrapped. Now they will end a year out of league action with a clash against Mark Aston’s team on Easter Sunday.
