York Dispatch Police need help identifying two people who were caught on camera stealing a concrete statue of a pink flamingo from a business in York Township. The theft happened about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of South George Street, according to a York Area Regional Police news release. The suspects drove from the Jacobus area and parked a silver or light colored SUV on South George Street, according to the release.

Wristbands help York County first responders spot mental illness during crisis

View Comments The York County Crisis Intervention Team gathered Thursday to give away the first of 5,000 wristbands that they hope will help identify an individual diagnosed with mental illness in the event first responders need to interact with them in a crisis situation. The wristbands will also be worn by police who are a trained CIT officer. “The CIT initiative is a collaboration between the police, the courts, probation, mental health care providers and.individuals with mental illnesses, substance abuse issues and others in need as they interact with the criminal justice system and health care system,” Katherine Gruver, CIT coordinator for the county, said as she opened the presentation at York Area Regional Police in York Township.

York City Police: One arrested, firearms, drugs confiscated following night of shots fired York Dispatch York City Police arrested a person and confiscated narcotics and firearms  including a loaded AK-47 following a string of shots fired incidents Tuesday in York City, according to a department news police. Police served a search warrant about 7 p.m. on Tuesday at a residence in the 900 block of South Pine Street following  another night of shots fired,  the release says. The gunfire Tuesday happened first in the 300 block of Irvin Road, then in the area of South Pine Street and also East Jackson Street, according to the release.
