Anthology of black authors to be given to all primary schools in England for free

A FREE anthology of books by black British authors is to be supplied to every primary school in England.
The initiative by Reading based-charity,
BookTrust, said that the move was to increase diversity in children’s literature.
The collection, called
‘Happy Here’ will be aimed at readers aged seven and older and will feature writers such as Yomi Sode, Clare Weze, Dean Atta, Patrice Lawrence and Sharna Jackson in their work.

Hafsah Aneela Bashir said: It’s important for me to be involved in Fly The Flag because I passionately believe in an individual’s right to be seen, heard and valued fully. To feel safe, free from fear and to live with dignity.
