Former Eastern Cape supermarket supervisor gets two-year sentence for stealing R46 000

The senior prosecutor appeared in court on Monday in connection with various sexual offences committed against a minor in 2019. A former supermarket supervisor has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for stealing R46 000 from the store tills. The Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crime Court found 34-year-old Fikile Phofana guilty of fraud and alternatively theft. Phofana was caught on CCTV video footage putting money generated by the the store s veterinary department into his wallet.  A former supermarket supervisor has been sentenced to two years behind bars for stealing R46 000 from the store tills. A director of an allegedly unregistered Mthatha college, which issued useless nursing certificates to its graduates, has been arrested on eight counts of fraud.  The Mthatha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team on Tuesday arrested the college director, Afika Nwabisa Mabongo, 37. Eight former students of the now defunct MA-B Training Academy told the police they were deemed unemployable because their qualifications were not recognised. The college was not registered with the Council of Higher Education. 

Businessman gets 12 years in prison for stealing electricity from Eskom since 2018

The Mount Frere Regional Court sentenced 34-year-old Sandile Andres Ntombela on Tuesday. READ | Ntombela and his business entity, Zamdela Pty Ltd, were convicted of theft and fraud. The Hawks said in a statement that it proved that Ntombela was responsible for illegal power connections since 2018 at the flats he owned in Badisana in Mount Frere. He continuously tampered with the power utility s infrastructure. As a result, Eskom lost more than R178 000, Hawks spokesperson Captain Yoliswa Mgolodela said.
