A Florida man was transported to the hospital after his semi jackknifed on Interstate 24 in Caldwell County Monday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Chris Noel with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department reports deputies responded to a single-vehicle wreck with injuries in the westbound lanes of I-24 at the 57-mile marker shortly after 3:20 p.m.
Deputy Noel says a semi driven by 41-year old Yohan Lopez, of Hialeah, was pulling a full-size box trailer when a pickup truck passed him and then immediately entered his lane of travel and then abruptly started slowing down. To avoid hitting the pickup truck, Lopez reportedly steered to the right, causing the semi to jackknife and exit the westbound shoulder of the road where it came to a stop.
