Santa Barbara County reports 232 new COVID-19 cases, a 22% drop from two-week average

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reported 232 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, which health officials say is a 22% drop from the county s two-week average.
Local health officials said the county has recorded 28,567 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since tracking began last year.
There are no new COVID-19-related deaths in Santa Barbara County, according to health officials.
According to the Santa Barbara County Community Data Dashboard, 1,306 cases of COVID-19 in the county are still infectious, a 37% decrease from the county s two-week average.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reported two additional COVID-19-related deaths and 192 new cases of the virus Saturday.
According to the public health department s Daily Status Report, both people who died from COVID-19 were at least 70 years old and had underlying health conditions. One of the people who died lived in the city of Santa Barbara/unincorporated area of Mission Canyon and the second person lived in the unincorporated Goleta Valley/Gaviota region.
Neither death was associated with a COVID-19 outbreak at a congregate care facility, according to the health department.

Santa Barbara County is reporting the deaths of six more people who had COVID-19.
Health officials say all of the patients were over the age of 70. One case was associated with an outbreak at a congregate living facility.
Santa Barbara County has had 285 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The county also added 226 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county s total to 27,754 confirmed cases as of January 28.
Health officials say 193 people are currently hospitalized; 25,784 people have recovered.
The Public Health Department reports that 68 of the county s 78 staffed ICU beds are currently occupied. Fifty-one of them are taken by COVID-19 patients. Eleven ICU surge beds are in use.
