Okahi made this remarks, while speaking after his election as the new president of the guild last Sunday. The popular film maker and former presidential aspirant defeated the likes of Mac Collins Chidebe, Yinka Akanbi and Kehinde Soaga to emerge the next president of the guild. In his acceptance speech, Okhai lamented the falling standard of film making in Nigeria, insisting that it’s no longer going to be business as usual in the industry.

Victor Okhai is the new president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria

Veteran Nollywood filmmaker and former presidential aspirant, Victor Okhai has emerged the president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN). Celebrated for his immense contribution to the film industry as a cinematographer, editor, screenwriter, Okhai has worked in various sectors of the industry including distribution and film production. The filmmaker is also one of the guild s co-founders. Okhai who succeeds Fred Amata, led the Saturday March 6, 2021 polls with 100 of the 151 total number of votes cast. Nigerian Film Directors Guild inducts 60 new members DGN President, Fred Amata, says the 60 successful filmmakers had excelled in the 2018 to 2021 screening exercises. Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN) on Friday inducted 60 new members into its professional fold. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inducted directors were endorsed into the filmmaking guild at various levels of associate and full membership. The DGN President, Fred Amata, who addressed the inductees in Lagos, said the 60 successful filmmakers had excelled in the 2018 to 2021 screening exercises. Mr Amata said the event would usher in the guild’s Annual General Meeting which usually leads to the DGN presidential election.
