According to the minister, a total of 342 passengers from Andhra were on the Yeshwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express and the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, with 331 passengers identified so far.
The Odisha government has shifted the bodies of victims of the tragic train accident in Balasore to Bhubaneswar for better preservation, and to facilitate the identification of the deceased by their kin.
"Some of the bodies have been counted twice at the accident site and also in hospitals. So, after proper counting, the final death figure stood at 275," said Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena.
To address the mounting casualties, the Odisha government swiftly established a temporary mortuary at the North Orissa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) business park on the outskirts of Balasore.
Around 293 passengers of the Coromandel Express involved in the Odisha train tragedy boarded the special train to AP and TN, and 137 of them deboarded at Chennai Central.
