Man let kids play with illegal rifle and ride on trailer

A member of the public recorded a white Toyota Hilux on the corner of Emperor and Squire streets carrying three standing kids, between 10 and 15 years of age, at 4.30pm on February 2. “Police subsequently viewed the footage and identified the vehicle and trailer registered to the defendant,” police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes told the Yeppoon Magistrates Court on April 8.

Public nuisance : Twerking woman fined after court no-show

Premium Content Subscriber only A woman who twerked in front of people on a roadway didn’t show up to a Central Queensland court hearing, so the Magistrate deal with the matter in her absence. The Yeppoon Magistrates Court decided to deal with Katrina Bess Doyle’s public nuisance and obstruct police charges ex-parte on April 8. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said Doyle was walking down the street when she stuck her bottom in the air in front of people and twerked for five to 10 seconds. Sergeant Janes said she loudly yelled obscene words. “She was intoxicated at the time,” Sergeant Janes said.

COURT: Man fed cannabis seeds to bird

Premium Content Subscriber only A father-of-two has found himself in front of the Yeppoon Magistrates Court after police found cannabis seeds in a jacket pocket and utensils in a house. Police searched a Yeppoon house at 8.30am on March 16 where Stephen Michael Cooze, 45, told them the seeds were cannabis and he didn’t know how old they were. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes told the court on April 8 that police found a pipe on the living room table. “With dark residue inside the cone piece and the smell of cannabis,” Sergeant Janes said. Cooze had a single page history with the last like offence in 1995.
