A Red Lodge firefighter suffered severe burn injuries on Friday (7/16), when a wildfire crews were battling near Joliet, shifted directions and burned over his emergency vehicle.
According to Red Lodge Fire Rescue s Facebook page, Dan Steffensen was injured while working the Harris Fire alongside Scott Wilson on Friday, when strong winds suddenly shifted towards them, and they were overrun by rapidly spreading wildfires.

While Wilson was uninjured, Steffensen was flown to Salt Lake City where he was admitted to the University of Utah burn center in serious condition, and had his first of many surgical procedures completed today (Monday 7/19), according to the post on Facebook.

BILLINGS â All 450 Tuesday appointments at the Yellowstone County centralized community vaccination were booked as county residents convened at Cedar Hall on the MetraPark campus to get their free, first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Billings COVID-19 Cases Drop, Vaccination Event Planned
The average number of positive COVID-19 cases in Yellowstone County has dropped to its lowest level since September 2020, with a plan to have a large vaccination event next week.
In a press conference today, public health officer John Felton said the daily average of positive cases has dropped below the 25 per 100,000 resident threshold, and children under 18 are accountable for about 14 percent of the total positive cases.
