Marra + Yeh Architects designed a forever family home in Redfern, NSW that met the owners’ brief for a sustainable, climate-responsive design with the flexibility to meet their evolving needs. The Sky House Project involved the merging of two adjoining terraces to create a contemporary home that could accommodate the changing needs of the family for the next 20 or more years. This family of five had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve with this renovation, especially in the selection of sustainable building materials. The home also had to be water and energy efficient, and the design needed to acclimatise to the changing seasons and maximise natural light.

Redfern NSW 2016 A forever home designed by Marra + Yeh Architects in Sydney met the client’s brief for a dwelling that would not only meet the needs of an evolving and ageing family but also be climate responsive across the changing seasons. The Sky House is a sustainably designed home built for a family of five by consolidating adjoining terraces in Redfern, NSW. The client’s brief for the renovation sought to create a contemporary, flexible family home that would accommodate their changing family for the next 20-plus years. The family was very clear about their objectives, which included the use of sustainable building materials, water and energy efficiency, and a design that acclimatised with the seasons while maximising natural light.
