FULL TEXT Respected Friend; Being appointed by a late Meeting of the Humane, or Abolition society in this State, to procure a presentation of their Memorial to Congress, on the Subject of the Slave trade; and believing thou art a friend to general liberty, I conclude it will not be disagreable to thee to endeavour to prevent, as fare as may be in thy power, the Cruelties, and inhuman treatment, which, to the disgrace of professed Christians, hath been long practised towards the Inhabitants of Africa; I request therefore thou wilt inform, whether or not, thou would be willing to present the said Memorial to the Next Session of Congress; which hath for its object nothing more than what Congress have Resolved they have power to do.

Concerning election integrity - Wilmington News Journal

Concerning election integrity The Religious Society of Friends, originally called “Friends of Truth”, has long held integrity as one of its chief testimonies. This testimony is not distinctive to Friends. Indeed, integrity with truthfulness is valued among all of the world’s religions. The Wilmington Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends commends the many election officials local, state and federal, who successfully conducted a free and fair election under the extraordinary circumstances of the ongoing pandemic. They systematically investigated allegations of voting fraud and made conclusions based on the evidence. We further commend the judges who faithfully upheld the law by rejecting lawsuits based on rumor and innuendo. They also ruled against litigation that attempted to disenfranchise large numbers of voters. Our peaceful society depends on the courage and integrity of such men and women.

Readers Forum, Dec 11, 2020: Execution violence must end in U S

Readers Forum, Dec. 11, 2020: Execution violence must end in U.S. Letters to the Editor: Opinions from readers on issues of the day Dec 10, 2020 Execution violence must end in U.S. We are saddened and troubled by the news that after a 17-year moratorium, our federal government has decided to resume state-sponsored and sanctioned execution at the Federal Correctional Institution in Terre Haute. The murder of a human person by another human person is abhorrent and deeply painful. Like you, we grieve the murder of any person and reach out in pastoral care for those who mourn their deaths. However, it is important to underscore that the United States of America is the only developed nation that continues to believe that state-sponsored execution is a deterrent to others who commit violent crimes, including murder.
