Hailey Whitters has been asking herself this for a while, spending the last 12 years trying to make it in Nashville. But now, she’s on the fast track to realizing her dreams thanks ironically in part to her song “Ten Year Town,” co-written by Grammy nominee and stellar Nashville songwriter Brandy Clark.
That, coupled with the recent success of her 2020 album
The Dream, has the Iowa native gaining traction as not only a songwriter, but artist. She’s written songs for the likes of Alan Jackson and Little Big Town, and she has an impressive catalog of songs she’s kept for herself, too.
Emma White has released an intimate new live performance of her powerful song That s Why I Drink, and she s letting Taste of Country readers see it first in this exclusive premiere.
White co-wrote That s Why I Drink with Brinley Addington and Neil Medley, and the track reached the Top 50 on the
Music Row chart after she released it in September of 2019. The lyrics detail the reasons the narrator tries to escape reality by drinking, which are really all just excuses in the end. That s why I drink / To get lost / To not think / To get gone / Get out of my head take off the edge for a little while / Not to get drunk / Just unwind and untangle my mind / I try to remember / I try to forget / That s why I drink, White sings in the chorus.
Whitters is Living the Dream
Friday, January 15, 2021 – Hailey Whitters announces the deluxe edition - Living the Dream - of her well-received 2020 album, The Dream, with five new songs, on Feb. 26 via Pigasus/Big Loud/Songs & Daughters.
Brent Cobb, Jordan Davis, Hillary Lindsey, Little Big Town, Lori McKenna and Trisha Yearwood to contribute vocals to the new tracks. Little Big Town recorded Whitter s Happy People for its 2017 album, The Breaker.
Following the release of her current single Fillin My Cup (featuring Little Big Town), Whitters today dropped The Ride with Davis. Jordan Davis took me out on his very first headlining tour when I was only an independent artist.
