Thursday marks the start of the final
Pokémon Go event of 2020,and trainers will want to ring in the New Year with new research tasks to complete, and special attire-wearing Pokémon to catch.
This year s New Year s Event will bring a slew of activities for
Pokémon Go trainers, including catching festive Pokémon like a 2020-glasses-wearing Slowpoke yes, they re a year late and a Pikachu wearing a New Year s hat. Both Pokémon can evolve and retain their costumes.
Pichu will also hatch from 2km Eggs while wearing a New Year s hat. Wynaut will hatch as well, but trainers can hatch a Shiny Wynaut more frequently during the event, so be sure to get your steps in safely.

Pokémon GO developer Niantic has shared lots – and we mean
lots – of details surrounding the game s upcoming events for its new year celebrations and January, including that month s Community Day star.
Let s jump right in with the New Year s celebration, which starts on 31st December at 10pm local time and lasts up until 4th January 10pm local time:

Slowpoke wearing 2020 glasses will be appearing in the wild, appearing after you complete Field Research tasks, appearing in raids, and hatching from 2 km Eggs.
Pokemon GO New Years event revealed with new Shiny Pokemon

This morning Niantic revealed the official 2020 to 2021 Pokemon GO New Year’s event. This event rolls with new avatar items, bonuses, and a wide variety of costumed Pokemon, both old and new. This event also includes events with themes according to different regions around the Pokemon world, starting with the Unova region!
During this New Year’s event, users will find bonuses like 2x Hatch Candy for Pokemon eggs and 2x Hatch Stardust for Pokemon eggs. This event will also cut Hatch Distance in half – eggs will hatch twice as fast when placed in an Incubator – babies aplenty!
