Elton John and Years & Years Cover Pet Shop Boys Its A Sing For Brit Awards
Elton John and Years & Years have come together for a truly spectacular performance of the Pet Shop Boys classic “It’s a sin” at tonight’s BRIT Awards.
A significant and timely cultural moment which will undoubtedly shine a spotlight on the AIDS epidemic during the 80s and the ongoing epidemic in 2021, the collaboration and performance was inspired by the Russell T Davies TV series ‘It’s a Sin’. The series profoundly touched over 18 million viewers across Britain – and brought the fight against HIV/AIDS back into the public conversation at a crucial time in the battle to eradicate the virus. ’It’s a Sin’ starred Years & Years’ Olly Alexander in an acclaimed leading role, and drew a rapturous reception from fans and critics alike.

Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall beat Bicep, Biffy Clyro, The 1975 and Young T & Bugsey to take home the British Group award at Tuesday night’s BRIT Awards (11 May). They became the first ever all-female band to win the award.
Taking to the stage, Edwards said: “Oh my goodness, guys, we have just made history. This is insane! I’m really emotional.”

Elton John teamed up with Years & Years’ Olly Alexander at the BRIT Awards to deliver a searing, gloriously queer rendition of Pet Shop Boys’ 1987 hit “It’s a Sin”.
The song has taken on new meaning since Russell T Davies’ AIDS-era drama of the same name debuted on Channel 4 in January.
Years & Years star Olly Alexander and music legend Elton John used their BRIT Awards performance to remind audiences at home that the fight against HIV is not yet won.
Introducing the pair, John’s husband David Furnish told people watching at home that antiretroviral drugs make HIV undetectable and untrabnsmittable, meaning people with the virus live long, healthy and fulfilled lives.

Pet Shop Boys It s A Sin after debuting the new version of the classic dance floor anthem during this year s BRIT Awards, and proceeds from the recorded version will be going to a good cause.
