Coronavirus restrictions have largely determined how millions of people across Australia have seen in 2021.
And the impact has been the greatest in Sydney and Melbourne as both cities deal with ongoing COVID-19 clusters.
Sydney s Circular Quay would normally be shoulder-to-shoulder with revellers, jostling for prime position to see the New Year s Eve (NYE) harbour fireworks, but on Thursday evening it was empty, with an exclusion zone around the area.
