Yeadon residents have thanked their MP Alex Sobel for stepping in to rescue the Christmas lights. Organisers had a major problem as the lamppost feeding lights in the square stopped working. The estimated fix was 25 days which would have meant that the lights were not working over the Christmas period. Mr Sobel, the MP for Leeds North West, stepped in to ensure that contractors were on site at 7am the next morning and the lights were fixed within two days instead. Organiser Julia Briggs said: “Thanks to Alex Sobel, Yeadon Town Hall Square is lit up this year. We have leased some lights from Leeds City Council and unfortunately due to a lamppost issue, three lampposts were not lit. The main lamppost in Town Hall Square was in darkness and could not be fixed before Christmas where the estimate was 25 days. We contacted Alex’s team and he stepped in and spoke to the correct people. Thanks to him and his office, the problem was dealt with within 2 days not 25 and Town Hall
