Hydropower comprises about 11 percent of India s energy mix, per the CEA, and is considered to be a flexible mode of power generation. Unlike coal-fired plants, these units can be ramped up and down quickly in keeping with power demand.
The CEA this week released guidelines for slope stability in hydropower projects, and had earlier set up a panel to look into the technical problems and resultant cost overruns in such projects.
