Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday arrived in Bhavnagar in Gujarat to review the situation in the state in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Tauktae.
PM Modi landed at Bhavnagar from Delhi and proceeded for an aerial survey of Una, Diu, Jafarabad and Mahuva, an official said.

Cyclone Tauktae is all set to hit the Indian states in the coming weeks. Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the citizens about the Arabian sea depression, which is likely to intensify into a âsevere cyclonic stormâ. The storm will form over the Lakshadweep islands and the Arabian Sea.Â
Due to the cyclone, power cuts were witnessed in parts of Mumbai especially Andheri, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai Virar and also in Pen and Raigad areas. At many locations, residents witnessed power fluctuation and intermittent power cuts.
After Goa, the cyclone targeted the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts as it moved towards Raigad, Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts while whirling towards the Gujarat south coast where it is expected to make a landfall on early Tuesday.

Cyclone Warning Division of the the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that from May 16 till May 19 the Arabian sea depression is likely to intensify into a “severe cyclonic storm”, namely cyclone Tauktae. IMD said that severe cyclonic conditions will form over the Lakshadweep islands and the Arabian Sea in the next 36 hours. States that are first going to face the cyclone Tauktae include three districts of Kerala and Lakshadweep followed by five other districts of Kerala. The districts put on high alert include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki. On Friday and Saturday, the intensity of rain is said to increase in the Konkan region of Goa and Maharashtra by Sunday, IMD states. Also Read
