In his poem “Paradise Lost” of 1667 on the sacking of Satan by God to Hell, the English poet John Milton invented the word “Pandemonium,” as the capital of Hell.
He described Pandemonium as the “high capital of Satan and his peers!”
January 2021
January 2021 started on a whirlwind note in two capitals, Washington-DC and Accra! Almost simultaneously, there was pandemonium in the Capitol, Washington-DC on 6th January 2021, and Parliament, Accra early 7th January 2021. The world’s leading exponent of democracy USA, and Africa’s beacon of democracy Ghana, both came out badly bruised, losing their cherished reputations as democracies par excellence.

The front page of the November 19, 2020 edition of Uganda’s leading newspaper, the Daily Monitor, had the headline, “203 killed as riots erupt across the country!”
Uganda’s general election will be held on January 14, 2021, some five weeks after Ghana’s December 7, 2020 general election.
As I watched the Uganda Police fire live bullets at protesters on TV in election violence, I asked myself: Is this what Ghanaians want for Ghana? Certainly not, for any patriotic Ghanaian!

In recent times, a renowned radio host starts his programme with a recording of a politician admonishing Ghanaian youth to be wary of politicians.
