We didn t abandon strong room — Kpessa-Whyte – Ghana Visions

+ The second witness for former President John Dramani Mahama in the election petition hearing, Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte, yesterday denied a suggestion by counsel for the Electoral Commission (EC) that he (the witness) had left the EC ‘strong room’ when he realised that the petitioner had lost the presidential election. According to the witness, it was not true that he, together with his other colleague in the strong room, had left the strong room when they realised that the petitioner had lost the election. Dr Kpessa-Whyte was responding to a suggestion put to him by counsel for the EC, Mr Justin Amenuvor, that he had left the room because he realised Mr Mahama had lost the election.

Election petition: I never implied Mahama won - Asiedu Nketia

705 The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, yesterday told the Supreme Court that he never implied that the presidential candidate of the party in the 2020 elections, former President John Dramani Mahama, won the presidential election. Mr Asiedu Nketia had allegedly said in a video that was shown in open court yesterday that the NDC’s collation of the results of the election at the time indicated that former President Mahama was ahead, and that the party expected the EC to declare Mr Mahama President-elect. It was with that portion of the video that counsel for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (second respondent), Mr Akoto Ampaw, began his cross-examination of Mr Asiedu Nketia.

  Information Minister Designate and Spokesperson for the Legal Team of the Second Respondent in the Presidential Election Petition, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah believes the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been stripped naked during Monday s hearing of the case.   According to him, the Petitioner, Mr John Dramani Mahama and his witness, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who is affectionately called General Mosquito’ were exposed in their inconsistent claims challenging President Nana Addo’s victory in the December 7, 2020 polls.   His comments comes after counsel for the second respondent, Mr Akoto Ampaw ended cross examining Mr Asiedu Nketia Monday afternoon [February 1, 2020]. Supreme Court dismisses Mahama s review application – Ghana Visions

+ The Supreme Court has dismissed former President John Dramani Mahama’s application which was asking the court to review its decision that disallowed him from asking the Electoral Commission (EC) 12 questions in the 2020 presidential election petition. The court in its ruling Thursday [January 28, 2021] said the applicant had not met the threshold to apply for review and was subsequently dismissed. Two additional justices, Justice Imoro Tanko and Justice Henrietta Mensah Bonsu were added to the earlier seven-member panel for the review application. The seven other justices on the panel hearing the petition to determine whether or not President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the validly elected President of Ghana are the Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, Justice Yaw Apau, Justice Samuel Kofi Marful-Sau, Justice Prof. Nii Ashie Kotey, Justice Nene A. O. Amegatcher, Justice Gertrude Torkonoo and Justice Mariama Owusu
