Taylor Clem: A traditional tea with a Florida native

Much of my family is from Kentucky. An extended family member of mine helped clear the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap with Daniel Boone. This route opened up western expansion into Kentucky that predominantly followed bison migratory trails and Native American routes. Growing up I would hear stories about Daniel Boone, visit Fort Boonesborough, and learn a lot about frontier lore. Therefore, I love reading novels about the frontier and settlers, especially when books discuss traditional knowledge, lore, and customs practiced by settlers and Native Americans. One of my favorites is the Foxfire books. Much of the Foxfire series publications share the knowledge, lore, and customs of settlers in the Southern Appalachia area. The books dive into a rich history of traditions. Throughout the books, many sections discuss different uses for plant material.
