Ethiopia, ADB Sign 31 Million USD Grant Agreement to Help End Undernutrition

Addis Ababa, May 10/2021 ( ENA) African Development Bank (ADB) and Ministry of Finance have signed over a 31-million-USD grant agreement to support the efforts to end stunting and child malnutrition of children in the country.
Finance State Minister Yasmin Wohabrebbi and ADB East Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office Deputy Director-General Abdu B. Kamara inked the agreement today.
The agreement under the Seqota Declaration will be implemented in Amhara and Tigray regions, it was learned.
During the signing ceremony, Finance State Minister Yasmin said the grant will be used to further support efforts to eradicate the underlying causes of chronic under-nutrition and ending stunting among children.

ADDIS ABABA, March 11 (Xinhua) The Ethiopian government is committed to further strengthening cooperation with China, a senior Ethiopian government official has said.
China and Ethiopia have forged close socio-economic and investment cooperation for more than 50 years, and the partnership is expected to flourish in the years ahead, Yasmin Wohabrebbi, Ethiopia s state minister of finance, said in a recent interview with Xinhua. China s positive engagement in our two countries relations is evident in terms of financing large-scale infrastructure projects in Ethiopia, which include road, energy, and railway projects such as the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway, Wohabrebbi said.
Today, Ethiopia has received 2.184 million doses of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine via the COVAX Facility.
“is a historic step towards our goal to ensure equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines globally, in what will be the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history. This delivery is part of the first wave of arrivals of the COVID-19 vaccines in Ethiopia that will continue in the coming weeks,” UNICEF said in its statement.
The Astra Zeneca vaccines licensed and manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII), were delivered by Ethiopian Airlines at Bole International Airport this morning. On hand to receive the shipment were Honourable Dr Lia Tadesse, Minister of Health, Ms Yasmin Wohabrebbi, State Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation, the WHO Representative Dr Boureima Hama Sambo, UNICEF Representative Ms Adele Khodr and development partners.
