A professor of performing arts at Savitribai Phule Pune University and five of his students have been charged with rioting and insulting religious beliefs.
Six people including SPPU professor Dr Pravin Dattatraya Bhole were earlier arrested over the play which allegedly had a male actor playing Sita smoking on stage.
Police were deployed in strength on Saturday at the university, which formed a committee headed by a retired district judge to investigate the incident.
