Locals allege that the flooding issue began after Yarandahalli Lake was recently rejuvenated by a private firm under its CSR initiative. The lake has its catchment in Jigani industrial area and it used to receive industrial effluents up until the rejuvenation work began in August 2022. They fear that the lake bund will soon collapse as the soil is eroding very fast. “The bunds and lake boundaries were made using the silt from the lake, which was unfortunately very loose soil so it eroded back into the lake bed and into the diversion channel made inside the lake.
