Veteran Gianluigi Buffon started against the side he first turned out for, while Dejan Kulusevski, Aaron Ramsey and Alvaro Morata were the other notable changes from Juventus.
Juventus were forced into an early bit of defending after Buffon made use of his legs to thwart a back-post attempt from Juraj Kucka in the nick of time.
The Bianconeri were up and running inside midway stage of the first half when Kulusevski carved out a yard of space in the six-yard area to send a low cross from Alex Sandro into the bottom-corner.
