今年34岁的陈飞是国家林草局亚洲象研究中心主任，今年3月24日，北移象群有可能进入普洱市墨江县通关镇一所学校，此后，他便“赖”上了象群。陈飞研究亚洲象断断续续有5个年头，他坦言自己不是专家，但只要媒体采访，他仍愿意分享“浅薄”的研究成果，末了总会补一句：“你们再找专家问问。” 陈飞是湖北人，2012年从中国林业科学研究院研究生毕业后，进入当时的国家林业部昆明勘察设计院工作（现名称为国家林草局昆明勘察设计院）。此后，学森林保护专业的他常和同事到野外科考，两三年内跑遍了云南省16个州市。此时虽没接触过亚洲象，但常年科考的毅力和经验为日后研究亚洲象铺了底。后来，陈飞到西藏挂职，与亚洲象的故事被摁了“暂停键”。再次启动是在2020年8月。 2019年12月，基于加强亚洲象保护管理工作的初衷，�
