Wary Traveler: More airline fees disappear
FacebookTwitterEmail
Airlines desperate for passengers have eliminated change fees for international flights.
Earlier this month, both Delta Airlines and United Airlines said they permanently ended the $200 fee they imposed on flight changes for nonrefundable international tickets.
The two airlines joined American Airlines, which eliminated the fees last month.
All three airlines had stopped domestic change fees over the summer.
The fourth major U.S. carrier, Southwest Airlines, never had imposed change fees.
Airlines aren’t being benevolent with their new policy. The fees are gone because carriers figure they can make more money selling tickets to reluctant passengers who want travel flexibility than they can imposing the change fees.
