Socially distanced block party planned for MLK holiday

Although the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day march will not be in person this year, you can still support local black-owned businesses at a socially distanced block party on Monday.
The event will feature food trucks and entertainment starting at 1 p.m. at Mark s Outing, which is traditionally the unofficial eatery many locals head to after the march.
Organizers told MySA.com they have worked with area businesses to help keep the food trucks socially distanced at the hamburger spot, which is located at 1624 E. Commerce St.

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March stood up to years of inclement weather. But even the might of citizens determined to pay homage to the civil rights icon on his birthday couldn t withstand the ongoing impact of the coronavirus. I ve been a part of that march more than 50 years, Renee Watson said. So, for me to say we re not going to get out and walk I had a real heartburn with that, just like many other residents.
