Yahoo Answers Is Shutting Down - The New York Times

Yahoo Answers, a Haven for the Confused, Is Shutting Down People used Yahoo Answers to ask weird questions, seek help and make jokes. But the service offered “real human reaction, for better or for worse,” one longtime observer said. April 6, 2021Updated 2:05 p.m. ET At times on Yahoo Answers, the people asking questions of strangers lunged for the hallucinatory limits of human curiosity: What would a heaven for elephants be like? Should scientists give octopi bones? It helped people identify their sense of self: Why do people with baguettes think they are better than me? Is being popular in high school a good skill I can use in a job interview?

SOPHIE, your music helped me to find a kind of sanctuary Thank you

SOPHIE, your music helped me to find a kind of sanctuary. Thank you The acclaimed musician and LGBTQ+ icon tragically died at the weekend. Here, a fan eulogises an artist who was revolutionary both in and out of music Credit: Getty I’ll always remember how lucky I was to see SOPHIE perform. It was on a school night of my first year of university. My best friend’s orange hair glowed under the hazy Brooklyn sky with his hand in mine, the fingerless fishnet gloves scratching my palm as we ran for the doors. SOPHIE was performing and, in the best way, it was the queerest I’ve ever felt. The strobe lights illuminated the ecstatic faces of the crowd, with SOPHIE looking on from the stage in a skintight dress and stiletto pumps. Each song warped into the next, chopped and spat back out into new, almost unrecognisable forms. People twerked and caressed each other in cages behind SOPHIE as the artist smashed buttons on a DJ set-up that erupted into deep, rumbly bass and high-pitc

Audio-based social app Clubhouse raises funding from Andreessen Horowitz

SHARE Audio-based social app Clubhouse said today it has raised new funding from the venture firm Andreessen Horowitz to help the startup scale up by hiring more people and investing in creators. The amount of the Series B round for the company, formally named Alpha Exploration Co., was not disclosed, though a source told Axios it was about $100 million. The Information reported Friday that Clubhouse had been in discussions before the round on a valuation of $1 billion but exactly how much it raised is a guess. Clubhouse had raised $12 million in a Series A round on a $100 million valuation last May.

Big Tech s Purge Is Only Beginning… For Them

Big Tech’s Purge is Only Beginning… For Them There’s nothing easy about living through a political coup. The Big Tech firms long in cahoots with our government have been pushing a false narrative of evil MAGA-Nazis trying to undermine polite society for more than four years now. Suppression started with Milo Yiannopoulos, accelerated to include Alex Jones and InfoWars and reach a temporary peak in 2018 with the persecution of alternative social media platform Gab in the wake of the Pittsburgh shooting. Friday’s attack by an unhinged, vile piece of human excrement on a Synagogue in Pittsburgh wasn’t hours old before real world agendas pushed to the top of the news.
