2020: A flop show
Due to the pandemic, most films did not have a successful run at the
box office
I t has been one of the worst years for Sandalwood or the
Kannada film industry with only 75 movies including multi-lingual Shakeela releasing during the year. For most of the Kannada films, the success rate has been negligible, and the ones which could have done well, were withdrawn from screens due to the lockdown.
2020 began with the release of Kannada movie Gudumana Avanthara but it failed to make an impact at the box office. Though 16 Kannada movies released in January, most of them except Love Mocktail and Dia, were withdrawn after being screened for one week or two weeks. The movies which failed to make an impact at the box-office include Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar’s India Vs England, Naavelru Half-Boiled, Kanadante Mayavadanu, Dinga and other movies.
