DURBAN â POLICE have not made any significant progress in their investigation into the slaying of Yaganathan Pillay, also known as Teddy Mafia.
Neither have they had any success in their investigations into the murders of two men accused of killing Pillay.
At this stage, not even the names of the men have been established.
One police source claimed the two men who are alleged to have killed Pillay were good friends with him.
âThe men were hit-men who he met when he was in prison.
âThey sort of looked after him while they were inside.

A clandestine operation by a number of specialised policing units led to the discovery of drugs worth more than R100,000 near the home of slain alleged drug kingpin Yaganathan Pillay, known as Teddy Mafia, on Wednesday morning.
TimesLIVE has learnt that members of the Hawks tactical response unit and the national intervention unit from Pietermaritzburg, together with members of the Durban Flying Squad, swooped on a block of flats opposite Pillay s home on Taurus and Table Mountain streets in Shallcross, south of Durban, about 5am.

Suspected South African drug lord, Yaganathan Pillay, popularly known as Teddy Mafia, has been shot dead. Reports said Teddy, 59, was shot twice in the head at his home in Shallcross, south of Durban on Monday afternoon, 4 January, he died shortly after arriving at Chatsmed hospital in Chatsworth. After the shooting, two alleged hitmen were beheaded and their bodies burnt on Taurus street in Shallcross, south of Durban. In March 2019, Teddy’s son, Devendren Lionel Teddy, was also shot dead in a drive-by shooting.
