Skirball Cultural Center opens an exhibition of portraits made up of thousands of LEGO bricks

.-The Skirball Cultural Center announces that it will resume indoor museum operations this May with the Southern California debut of Ai Weiwei: Trace. Created by Ai Weiwei, one of Chinas most provocative and socially engaged living artists, the installation features portraits made up of thousands of plastic LEGO® bricks, each assembled by hand and laid out on the floor. These portraits depict individuals from around the world whom Ai and leading human-rights groups consider to be activists, prisoners of conscience, and advocates of free speech. California African American Museum Appoints Cameron Shaw as Executive Director

The California African American Museum (CAAM) announced that Cameron Shaw has been appointed executive director. She has served the Museum as deputy director and chief curator since September 2019.
“We are delighted that Cameron Shaw has agreed to lead the Museum into the future, continuing CAAM’s remarkable trajectory. She has admirably navigated CAAM’s closure due to COVID-19, all the while strategizing and fundraising for several exciting initiatives to come once Los Angeles museums are allowed to reopen,” said Board President Todd Hawkins. Shaw’s appointment follows the retirement of George O. Davis, the executive director since 2015.
To celebrate the fourth season premiere of its series
Snowfall, FX hosts a themed carwash with lights, music, design and effects inspired by the series. Set in L.A. in the 1980s during the first crack epidemic, the crime drama returns on Feb. 24. Reservations for the car wash are required as this is a contactless event. FX is also teaming with Official Black Wall Street to highlight the show and a selection of Black-owned L.A. businesses.
