A small group of people waited patiently for artist Raul Rene Gonzalez to get to work on Sunday morning in a sunny corner of the San Antonio Museum of Art’s Great Hall.

It will be carried on TPR and Luminaria s websites, via YouTube and on multiple Facebook channels. Thanks to a little help from Slab Cinema, Lonesome Rose the site of last year s telethon will also host an in-person watch party.

SAN ANTONIO – Luminaria celebrates contemporary art with edgy installations and performances in downtown San Antonio each year.
The nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping promote the arts in San Antonio through the Luminaria Contemporary Arts festival, the Luminaria Artist Foundation Grants Program.
Tuesday, the Luminaria Artist Foundation Grants Program announced its list of grant award winners with $54,000 going to seven Bexar County artists to help them create original work in literary, visual and performing arts - some of which is expected to be on display during this year’s Luminaria festival on Nov. 13.

Nearly every weekday evening since March 2020, Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Judge Nelson Wolff have appeared before the media and community (via social media and public access TV) to provide COVID-19 updates. Along with reporting SA’s daily case numbers, deaths and hospitalizations, they’ve answered questions about regulations, reminded the community to mask up and tried to communicate the urgency that came with filling hospitals and emerging vaccine availability. The virus became a political issue at nearly every level in 2020 and our local leaders played the game when necessary, with Wolff finding what can only be described as a loophole in Gov. Greg Abbott’s initial order not requiring masks. While the state regulation said Wolff couldn’t mandate mask wearing for residents, Wolff found he could require county businesses to insist their customers wear mas
