Naval diving teams, Army columns working with local administration
With severe cyclone Yaas set to make landfall on the Eastern coast on May 26, the Army and Navy deployed relief and diving teams in West Bengal in coordination with the local administration. In addition, the Navy and Coast Guard have also kept ships and aircraft on standby.
As part of the preparations in West Bengal, the Navy said two Navy diving teams and five Flood Relief Teams (FRT), comprising specialised Navy personnel with associated equipment and inflatable boats, have been deployed to the State.

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on COVID and Vaccination and directed the officials to take utmost precautions in wake of Black Fungus and focus on procuring injections for its treatment.
During the review meeting held at the camp office here on Monday, the Chief Minister said information is being received on White Fungus and Yellow Fungus and directed the officials to be on alert regarding them.
He said to make alternative arrangements for uninterrupted supply of oxygen in the wake of Yaas cyclone and added to focus on supply and storage of oxygen. He said 15,000 oxygen concentrators are being procured and instructed the officials to focus on their maintenance and set up a system to ensure they work properly.

Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ is likely to intensify further into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm by Tuesday night. It is very likely to cross the north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Islands close to north of Dhamra and south of Balasore on Wednesday noon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
