“THE Age of Awakening,” a 2021 hit drama from the Chinese mainland, has received positive reviews in Hong Kong since it was aired there July 12.
The 43-episode, award-winning series shows how Chinese pioneering intellectuals and young people in the early 1900s strove to save the nation and the bumpy road they faced in the lead-up to the establishment of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It was China’s most popular TV show in the first half of this year, with a rating of 9.3 out of 10 based on more than 300,000 reviews thanks to its objective story-telling, vivid characterization and impressive performances, according to a recent report by the Chinese reviewing platform Douban.
