Nearly 80 students and teachers of Xuan Phuong Elementary School in Hanoi were sent to quarantine at the cordoned campus on Sunday after a third grader tested positive for the COVID-19 pathogen on Saturday.
Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control, told
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday morning that 79 people at Xuan Phuong Elementary School in Nam Tu Liem District had been quarantined inside the school premises.

The administration board of FPT University has immediately closed off its Hanoi campus in the suburban Hoa Lac area after a student attending the institution was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Sunday.
Earlier, it was announced by the Ministry of Health that a 21-year-old student enrolled at the Hanoi campus of FPT University tested positive for COVID-19.
The student, dubbed patient No. 1,815, joined his mother in the wedding ceremony of a relative in Chi Linh City of Hai Duong Province on January 23 and 24 before returning to classes at FPT University on January 25. Three days later, he exhibited symptoms of the respiratory disease.

While this is supposed to be the most anticipated season of the year, it has turned into a period of daily anxiety as the country is struggling with a new wave of COVID-19 cases. Within just 5 days, Vietnam has recorded 240 new community coronavirus cases, taking Vietnam’s current total to 1,819 cases.
With New Year’s Eve only 10 days away, Vietnam is in a race against time to combat the outbreak.
