The first week of 2024 was a light one for patent filings. The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) had a slightly below average 21 new petitions all petitions for inter partes review (IPR), while there were only 34 new filings in district court.
It was a relatively average week for patent filings in the district court with 59 new complaints, while It was a somewhat below average week at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) with 14 new petitions filed thirteen of which were IPRs and one post grant review (PGR).
