A senior official in the Eastern Cape transport department has been transferred to a different unit after allegedly sitting on an investigative report into a syndicate that fraudulently gained access to government's national driving licence issuing system.
Ambulance drivers are being forced to direct traffic to attend to victims and prevent further loss of life at Eastern Cape accident scenes as provincial traffic officers no longer work the 6am to 2pm shift on Saturdays and Sundays. This is because the department, officers claim, is trying to cut down on overtime payments.
