Four college students from New Haven interned this summer in YSE labs through the New Haven Promise program. They contributed research on several projects including a study on accelerating the natural weathering process that sequesters carbon and an examination of the impacts of invasive jumping worms.

A Salina man has been arrested after allegedly interfering with an officer Monday evening.
The Salina Police Department arrested 20-year-old Xavier Murrell after he had four outstanding warrants out of Saline County District Court and was reported to be in possession of a handgun.
Officers made contact with Murrell at 614 S. Front St. He fled on foot south on Front Street and jumped a fence at 633 S. Front. The officer yelled for Murrell to stop, but he continued to flee.
Murrell ran down to the creek area behind the YMCA and then moved east. A police K-9 unit tracked Murrell along the creek and found him hiding in a trash can at 905 E. Prescott. Murrell had a holster on him but no handgun was found.
