RANCHI: The Ranchi archdiocese on Saturday held a requiem (funeral) mass at St Mary’s Cathedral to bid farewell to 84-year-old Father Stan Swamy, who died at Mumbai s Holy Family Hospital on July 5, while in judicial custody.
Only a handful of church officials and sisters attended the mass following the Covid protocols though the mass was broadcast live on social media platforms. Prominent among those present were Fr Felix Toppo, archbishop of Ranchi, Fr Theodore Mascarenhas, Bishop of Ranchi, Fr Jerry Kuttina, provincial of Jamshedpur, Fr Santosh Minj, provincial of Hazaribagh among others.

Ranchi: Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi reopened its campus for the second year students amidst COVID -19 guidelines on Monday. The Institute has started with a phase-wise reopening strategy wherein only 50% of the capacity are allowed in the campus for offline classes, while the others attended the same class via online mode.
XISS has reopened its campus for students, adhering to the guidelines of AICTE, UGC, Central Government, State Government and District authorities. The Institute is also adopting a set of safety and hygiene guidelines developed by the XISS COVID-19 Task Force which will be updated on a regular basis.
