Andria Bennett, a state representative from the Dover area, was arrested last Sunday for misdemeanor assault.
State troopers responded to St. Jones Avenue just south of Dover for a reported dispute around 2 a.m. They arrested Bennett and charged her with third-degree assault.
She was released on her own recognizance. An arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 28 in Kent County Family Court. Bennett did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bennett, a 49-year-old Democrat, has represented the 32nd District since 2013. She won reelection in November.

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police say a dispute on Sunday, December 13, led to the arrest of Delaware Delegate Andria Bennett.
Officials say they responded to St. Jones Avenue in Dover around 2 AM for a reported conflict. A criminal investigation was conducted and 49-year-old Andria Bennett was arrested for 3rd degree assault.
Police did not confirm who else was involved in the situation or say exactly what happened. Officials say Bennett was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
