CHESHIRE West and Chester Council has launched a pilot scheme with NHS Test and Trace to help reach people who have tested positive for coronavirus sooner and offer them the support they need to self-isolate. The joint initiative brings the council in from the start of the tracing journey, at the same time the case is entered into the national NHS Test and Trace system. Council contact tracers now contact the individual directly rather than the national service and are responsible for instructing the individual to self-isolate. The team is also able to provide support to people who have tested positive and for members of their households who have to self-isolate – making sure people have all they need to stay indoors for 10 days.

As the first anniversary of the initial COVID-19 lockdown approaches, plans are being developed in west Cheshire to commemorate those who have lost their lives and everyone who has been impacted by the virus.
Tuesday, March 23 has been chosen as a National Day of Reflection by charity Marie Curie who is asking people to ‘take a minute to reflect and a moment to connect by joining in with minute s silence at 12 noon, shining a light at 8pm or reflecting on the last year in their own way.
MORE than 13,000 responses have been received by Cheshire West and Chester Council over new proposals that could result in bins being emptied once every three weeks. The authority s eight-week consultation over the plans, which are part of its 10-year strategy on waste collection and recycling, closes a week today (Thursday, March 18). In the consultation, which was launched in January, the council sets out two options for ‘kerbside waste collection’.
Option A sees household waste collected every two weeks using a 180 litre bin, recycling waste collected every two weeks using two bins, garden waste collected every two weeks using a 240 litre bin, and food waste collected every week using a caddy.
