WARSAW â If youâve passed through town on South Main Street, itâs almost certain youâre familiar with the old Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburg freight house.
The approximately 110-year-old building harkens back to a time when the village was a significant regional manufacturing hub. But the challenge in the modern era has been finding a practical use for it.
The buildingâs owner, Rob Fontaine has secured a permit to demolish the old building, village officials confirmed Friday. Part of its east loading ramp was removed earlier this week.
Itâs a decision thatâs generating pushback from some area residents fond of railroads, village history or both.
