South Carolina woman hoarding gas catches fire after car accident

Updated: 12:58 PM PDT May 14, 2021 Anne Newman Executive Producer A woman hoarding gas caught on fire following a car accident Thursday night in Pickens County, South Carolina, according to Chief Deputy Chad Brooks with the Pickens County Sheriff s Office. A deputy in a marked patrol unit saw a Pontiac G6 traveling on Jameson Road in Pickens and determined that the vehicle was displaying a South Carolina license plate that had been reported stolen, Brooks said.According to Brooks, as the vehicle approached the intersection of Jameson Road and Wolf Creek Road, the deputy activated his vehicle’s emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the Pontiac turned left onto Wolf Creek Road and accelerated the vehicle in an attempt to elude law enforcement. Driver dies on Cherokee County highway after car overturns, troopers say

Updated: 5:24 PM EST Mar 11, 2021 The body of a driver was discovered Thursday morning after his vehicle hit a tree and overturned the night before, according to Dennis Fowler, with the Cherokee County Coroner s Office.It happened on Highway 221 near Dove Ridge Lane in Cherokee County, Fowler said.According to Fowler, the driver of a 2016 Honda Accord went off the road, hit a tree, three other salvaged vehicles on the property of Vick’s Classic Auto Parts and then the vehicle overturned.The driver was wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Fowler said.The victim has been identified as Flay Ronald Lovelace, 73, of Forest City, North Carolina.Evidence indicates the collision occurred at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday however, it was not discovered until Thursday morning when the property owner came to work, Fowler said.According to Fowler, there was no indication the driver attempted to apply his breaks raising questions as to whether he suffered a medical condition prior to the
