Statesmen Qualifiers Just Miss Stand at Nationals Yankton, S.D.–For the first time in several campaigns, the William Penn track and field teams were not able to bring home any hardware as they competed at the NAIA Indoor National Championship Wednesday through Saturday. Men’s high jumper Mofiyinfoluwa Alade (Sr., Hoffman Estates, Ill., Exercise Science) was in action, as was the women’s 4×400-meter relay team composed of Michaela Kmiec (So., Centerville, Texas, Exercise Science), Shaniah Newby (So., Twentynine Palms, Calif., Nursing), Ashley Omoregie (Jr., Old Bridge, N.J., Biology), and Raven Williams (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.). On Wednesday, the ladies hit the track for the preliminaries. The team, unfortunately, did not qualify for the finals, posting a time of 4:04.75, which placed William Penn 14th out of the 16 squads in the field.

Indiana Tech remains atop of the National TFRI for the second consecutive week. The Warriors have accumulated 12 national top-5 marks and 17 top-10 marks. They are led by two national leading marks by Jaylen Coleman in the triple jump (15.04/49-4¼) as well as the 4×800 relay (7:50.78c). Indiana Tech also has multiple athletes ranked inside the top-5 in the 60, 200, 60H, high jump, and triple jump. Doane (Neb.) jumps up to No. 2 this week after posting six national top-10 marks over the weekend. Sophomore Matthew Campbell led the way with two top-10 throws of 18.88m (61- 11½) in the weight throw (No. 2 nationally) and 16.08m (52-9¼) in the shot put (No. 8 nationally). Sophomore Sergio Arcos also scored 4694 points this weekend for a No. 3 national mark in the heptathlon. Junior Jacob Heitkamp continues to hold down the No. 1 spot in the high jump at 2.17m (7-1½).
